Owen Moorhead is a researcher, conservationist, and freelance writer living and working in central Texas. A native of Austin, they  graduated from Texas State University in 2014, and have spent most of their professional career in public service.

Their writing has been published in the Journal of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (2021) and won national recognition for public policy communication (2016). Currently, they study plant ecology at Texas State, where their research focuses on grassland ecology and restoration.
