The warm glow of the holiday season is the perfect time to add a personal touch to your home decor, and creating a DIY Christmas picture frame is a delightful way to do just that. Homemade frames not only showcase your favorite festive memories but also bring a unique, handcrafted charm to your holiday display.
Whether you want to frame a cherished family photo or a special holiday card, a do-it-yourself Christmas picture frame makes a meaningful keepsake and a thoughtful gift. Plus, customizing your own frame is simpler than you might think, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to get creative with seasonal embellishments and colors that fit your style.
How to Easily Create a Cute Picture Frame for Christmas
By using picture frames of different shapes, sizes and colors you can change the style or the atmosphere of your room without a hitch. If you have an old, out-of-use picture frame to pimp up or to turn into a unique gift, you’ll definitely like this DIY.
Have fun!
1. Prepare Everything you’ll Need for the Frame
You will need a spare picture frame (we used an 18×18 cm one), a glue gun, some knitted material, some nuts and fruits (mini pinecones, casuarinas, nuts, birch cones, mahogany), a small wooden sledge, snow spray.
2. Create Equal-sized Rectangles from the Knitted Material
Once you have all the ingredients at hand cut the knitted material into four equal-sized rectangles (7×21 cm in our case, if you use a smaller or larger picture frame, the cut-out should be as long as the longer side of the frame, and so wide that you can wrap it around the frame). Use these and the glue gun to cover the frame.
3. Place the Knitted Material over the Frame
Place the first stripe of knitted material over one side of the frame and make a cut on the side in 45 degree angle to prevent the superfluous material when you fold it and glue it to the back of the frame.
4. Glue the Material to the Frame
Glue the material to the back of the frame as in the picture.
5. Choose your Favorite Photo
When you’ve covered the frame, you can insert your favorite photo and put back the back cover of the frame.
6. Decorate the Frame as you Like
Now you can set to the funniest part of the job: decoration. You can use the cones, nuts and fruits listed above, but it’s really up to your imagination and creativity.
